Chapter 1: The Crumbling World

10 min read

The wind had stopped.

All across the seas, from the Grand Line to the farthest reaches of the First Sea, there was an unsettling stillness. Flags hung limp. Birds flew low and quietly. Waves no longer crashed—they simply rose, trembling.

At the heart of the world, atop the Red Line, Mary Geoise stood as always—proud, untouchable. But inside the Empty Throne Room, something was different.

The air was heavier. Colder.

In the shadows behind the throne, a presence stirred. No words were spoken. No movement could be seen. Yet the ancient walls of Pangaea Castle groaned softly, as if reacting to something long buried… waking.

Pirate Starter Island

Fishermen paused mid-cast as the sea turned glassy and motionless. One dropped his rod, staring.

"Why… isn't it moving?"

A child pointed at the sky.

"Mom? The sun looks… darker."

Clouds gathered without wind. A strange hum filled the silence. It was faint—almost a whisper—but everyone heard it.

Marine Fortress

Vice Admiral Raen paced the watchtower.

"Why hasn't Central responded?" he barked, slamming a Den Den Mushi receiver.

Below, recruits murmured about headaches, shadows that moved, and compasses spinning wildly.

On the horizon, a massive fog bank began to rise—black, slow, and impossibly wide.

Skylands

A monk meditating atop a floating island opened his eyes.

"They've returned," he whispered, though no one was there to hear him.

A breeze swept through the floating ruins, but the wind carried no air—only a low chant that had no language.

Somewhere deep beneath the sea, far below the ocean floor, locked behind stone and time, a chamber long forgotten pulsed once with faint light.

A voice echoed through the void.

Soft.

Hollow.

Ageless.

On the Thousand Sunny, Mahan stood near the railing, staring at the motionless ocean. A small amount of magma dripped from his hand before vanishing into the air.

He frowned.

"Even my magma feels heavier."

Nearby, Nihal sat silently, his Buddha powers giving off a faint golden glow.

"Something is disturbing the balance," he said.

Neither of them knew what was listening.

Farther across the sea, Thaman sat cross-legged, his eyes closed. Flames from his Flame Fruit flickered weakly around him, but they didn't feel warm.

He opened his eyes.

"Why… is the fire afraid?"

Behind him, the air trembled—just once.

A warning.

At the edge of the sea, aboard a drifting ship, Law stared at the horizon through a spyglass. The waves ahead shimmered, but not with light. They bent inward, forming a spiral that reached toward the sky.

"No storm," he muttered. "No wind. But the sea's moving like it's alive…"

His crew looked uneasy, whispering about a curse. Law didn't believe in curses, but he did believe in omens.

And this…

This felt like the beginning of something ancient.

On a distant island, Sudheepkar suddenly felt the ground beneath his feet shake.

He looked down.

His T-Rex instincts had reacted before he even understood what was happening.

"Something's coming."

The ground stopped shaking.

Sudheepkar remained still.

For the first time, he wasn't sure whether he was hunting something…

Or whether something was hunting them.

In a frozen wasteland far north, Sriyansh stood in a blizzard that no longer howled. Snowflakes hung mid-air, unmoving.

The icy energy surrounding him behaved strangely. His Ice, Yeti, and Blizzard powers all seemed to resist his control, as if something else was interfering with them.

Sriyansh slowly raised a hand.

Ice gathered before him, forming a frozen mirror.

For a split second, his reflection wasn't his own.

A black figure stood where his reflection should have been.

Sriyansh narrowed his eyes.

He shattered the mirror without hesitation.

In a ruined city far from the main seas, Charvik stood alone among broken buildings.

His Kitsune flames flickered around his body.

He tried to move forward.

The flames suddenly disappeared.

Charvik stopped.

"That's impossible."

He summoned them again.

Nothing.

Then, without warning, the flames returned.

But for one brief moment, they were black.

Charvik stared at his hands.

"What was that?"

Inside a quiet canyon, Harshil, wielder of the Sound Fruit, sat surrounded by silence.

Not just an absence of noise.

Absolute silence.

Not even his powers could break it.

He struck his palm against the ground, sending a wave of sound through the canyon.

Nothing happened.

Harshil's expression changed.

"I can't hear the world," he whispered.

And that scared him more than anything else ever had.

The world was falling silent.

Not with peace, but with pressure.

As though the earth itself was holding its breath, bracing for something no one could stop.

Not yet.

Not ever.

The sea was calm.

Too calm.

The Thousand Sunny drifted across the motionless water.

Luffy lay sprawled on the deck, his arms behind his head as he stared at the sky.

"Oi, Zoro… doesn't the sky look weird?"

Zoro leaned against the mast, one eye half-open.

"Looks normal to me… except the clouds aren't moving."

Near the front of the ship, Kizaru looked toward the horizon.

Even his usual relaxed expression had disappeared.

"Strange… very strange."

Tanish stood beside him, his hands resting near his weapons.

"You're noticing it too?"

Kizaru nodded.

"The light is behaving differently."

Tanish looked up.

The sunlight above them seemed distorted, almost as if something was bending it.

Before either of them could say more, Akshith stepped onto the deck, flexing his fingers.

"Something's wrong. My Dragon Talon feels different. The flames aren't responding normally."

Ace looked toward Akshith.

"Mine too."

A small flame appeared in Ace's palm.

It flickered once.

Then almost completely disappeared.

Ace clenched his fist.

"That shouldn't happen."

A sudden metallic sound came from behind them.

Zoro turned.

"What was that?"

Tanush stood near the ship's side, staring into the water.

"Something moved down there."

Everyone looked over the railing.

Nothing.

Then the water beneath the Sunny darkened.

A massive shadow passed underneath the ship.

Luffy jumped to his feet.

"WHOA! Did you see that?!"

Tanush stepped back.

"Yeah."

The shadow vanished.

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Then a small boat approached from the port side.

A tall figure stood at its front, carrying two swords at his side.

Oden.

He stepped aboard the Thousand Sunny, his expression unusually serious.

"Oden!" Luffy jumped toward him.

Oden nodded.

"I'm back."

Zoro crossed his arms.

"You look like you've seen a ghost."

Oden's expression darkened.

"Something far worse than a ghost."

He reached into his belongings and pulled out several ancient, weathered pages.

Law immediately walked closer.

"Where did you get those?"

Oden looked at him.

"A hidden chamber deep beneath the sea floor."

Law's expression sharpened.

"The same place I heard about?"

Oden nodded.

"Probably."

Luffy leaned closer.

"What do they say?"

Oden looked down at the pages.

"They speak of a silence that comes before the end."

He paused.

"A phenomenon called the Cradle of Silence."

The others stared at him.

"And it has already begun."

Dhruv stepped forward.

"If something that old is waking up, why hasn't anyone noticed before?"

Oden looked toward Mary Geoise.

"Because someone made sure they didn't."

The crew fell silent.

Mahan's magma began glowing faintly around his arm.

"Then whoever buried it probably doesn't want it found."

Nihal nodded.

"And whoever sealed it may have known what would happen if it returned."

Oden turned toward Luffy.

"Luffy… whatever this is, it's older than the Void Century."

His grip tightened around the ancient pages.

"It isn't simply a threat. It's a forgotten truth."

Oden looked toward Mary Geoise in the distance.

"Something was buried for a reason."

Luffy's grin faded.

He looked out at the still waters, his fists slowly clenching.

"Then we find out what it is."

He stood.

"And we stop it."

A low rumble suddenly traveled across the sea.

Mokshith looked toward the horizon.

"That wasn't the ship."

Everyone turned.

The clouds above Mary Geoise had begun to rotate.

Slowly.

Then faster.

Law lowered his spyglass.

"We're running out of time."

As the Thousand Sunny sailed closer to Mary Geoise, Sriyansh stood on deck, his icy breath fogging the air despite the unnatural stillness.

He stared into a polished silver mirror he carried—a gift from his homeland—held tightly in his gloved hands.

The world around him seemed to warp inside the glass.

For a fleeting second, a shadow appeared behind him.

Sriyansh froze.

But the figure wasn't behind him.

It was inside the mirror.

Imu.

Calmly seated upon the Empty Throne.

Their eyes seemed to pierce through the glass itself, as though they were looking directly through time and space.

Sriyansh gasped and stepped back.

"This… this isn't right."

His voice was low, but urgent.

He lowered the mirror.

Charvik moved beside him.

"What did you see?"

Sriyansh hesitated.

"Someone."

Law immediately looked over.

"Who?"

Sriyansh stared at the mirror.

"Imu."

The name alone changed the atmosphere on the deck.

Zoro's hand moved toward his swords.

Tanish narrowed his eyes.

Ace's flames returned to his hands.

Kizaru looked toward Mary Geoise.

"So that's where this is coming from…"

Sriyansh turned toward the others.

"Everyone. Get ready."

One by one, the others gathered around him.

Luffy.
Oden.
Zoro.
Akshith.
Mahan.
Thaman.
Nihal.
Sudheepkar.
Charvik.
Law.
Mokshith.
Ace.
Kizaru.
Dhruv.
Harshil.
Tanish.
Tanush.

The sea remained completely still.

And somewhere beyond the horizon, something ancient was waiting.

"I saw him. Imu. He's watching us... and whatever he's planning, it's not good."

Luffy frowned.

"Then we have to be ready. No matter what."

The Thousand Sunny continued toward Mary Geoise, its enormous walls rising above the horizon.

Yet the closer they came, the quieter the world became.

No birds.

No waves.

Not even the sound of the ship cutting through the water.

From the shadows of the Empty Throne Room, Imu and the Five Elders watched the approaching ship.

None of them moved.

Then Imu slowly stood.

A voice echoed across the distance.

"Welcome."

The crew froze.

Imu's voice was calm.

Almost emotionless.

"You have come seeking answers."

The figure looked toward the Thousand Sunny.

"But the truth you seek is far more dangerous than you imagine."

Kizaru stood slightly apart from the others, his eyes fixed on Mary Geoise.

His usual relaxed expression was gone.

Tanish noticed.

"You're unusually quiet."

Kizaru gave a faint smile.

"Sometimes, the brightest light casts the darkest shadows."

Tanish looked toward the distant Empty Throne.

"Then let's hope we're ready for whatever's hiding in them."

Kizaru said nothing.

Oden stepped forward, gripping the ancient pages he had recovered.

"Enough hiding."

He looked directly toward Mary Geoise.

"We've already uncovered part of the truth."

Oden held up the ancient pages.

"And if these writings are correct, Imu isn't simply watching the world."

His expression hardened.

"He's preparing something."

Law glanced at the pages.

"You said these texts were incomplete."

Oden nodded.

"They were."

He turned one of the pages over.

"But there was one name that appeared again and again."

Luffy looked at him.

"What name?"

Oden stared toward the Empty Throne.

"Mother Flame."

The crew went silent.

Nihal's golden aura flickered around him.

"What is it?"

Oden shook his head.

"I don't know exactly."

His grip tightened around the pages.

"But whatever it is, the ancient records treated it like a weapon capable of changing the world."

Dhruv stepped forward.

"Then we destroy it before they can use it."

Oden looked at him.

"If it's already been activated, destroying it may not be that simple."

Mahan's magma began to glow.

"Then we'll find another way."

Ace nodded.

"We can't let them use something like that against everyone."

Oden looked around at the gathered warriors.

His expression changed from curiosity to determination.

"Then we stop them."

A sudden flash of light appeared above Mary Geoise.

Kizaru immediately looked upward.

"There."

A massive glow briefly illuminated the clouds.

Tanish tightened his grip.

"Was that the weapon?"

Kizaru's eyes narrowed.

"I don't know."

Oden stepped forward.

"Whatever it was, we just got our answer."

The doors of the Empty Throne Room slowly opened.

Imu stood within the darkness.

The Five Elders stood behind them.

And somewhere deep beneath Mary Geoise, something began to awaken.

The crew exchanged looks.

Sriyansh raised his hand, ice forming around his fingers.

Harshil closed his eyes, listening for any sound.

There was nothing.

Not even a whisper.

Law activated his Room.

"They're coming."

Zoro drew one of his swords.

"Good."

Luffy stepped forward.

"Let's go."

The silence broke.

And the world finally began to move again.
